Restrictions:
Restricted to specialist use for epidural analgesia to relieve pain during labour and to control post operative pain.

Restricted to specialist use for spinal anaesthesia in day-case anaesthetic pathways.

Exludes spray formulations.
Restrictions:
Restricted to patients who are intolerant of first line therapies for post-herpetic neuralgia or where these therapies have been ineffective. Use for other indications remain non-Formulary.
Prescribing Notes:
If lidocaine plasters are initiated for analgesia (in accordance with formulary restrictions), the patient should be reviewed at 4 weeks and treatment only continued if the patient demonstrates a response. If no response, treatment should be discontinued.
Restrictions:
Restricted to use in spinal anaesthesia in ambulatory surgery settings such as day surgery units.
